Happy St. Patrick's Day

Ok, I do not celebrate St. Patrick's Day because of a personal experience that happened one year. However, for the readers I thought it would be nice to find some green covered books or books that are related to St. Patrick's Day in some way. For green covers the first two that popped in my head was Splintered by A.G. Howard and Rising Calm by Haley Fisher.

A search in lists on Goodreads for green covers featured 9 results, 3 lists piqued my interest.

Colour Wielders
*I did not get to see the cover before I agreed to reveal it!*

My thoughts on the cover. I wish I could enlarge the cover like it did when I first opened it. The variety and richness of colours is perfect for this book. I like how it looks like the energy is flowing from him to her into the sword!

What are your thoughts on the cover?

As she struggles to pick up the pieces, a vision of a man with haunting tourmaline-blue eyes begs her for help, and she finds herself transported into a Magykal battle forever changing her life.

Arik Morgaine—demi-god bad boy and outcast of the Magykal Realm—tried to avoid contact with Princess Quinn Sinclair for eighteen years, not wanting to make good on an old threat. But the fates have other plans. Arik can no longer deny his growing desire for Quinn, or the need to protect her from those wanting to control her burgeoning powers. Throwback Thursday

Throwback Thursday was a new meme idea I thought of while listening to Throwback Thursday on a local country music station.  Instead of songs I thought I'd scour the Goodreads classics list for a good book classic to promote and add to my TBR list on Thursdays. (My TBR classics will probably become an extra shelf on Goodreads) If you want to try this on your own blog link back and let me know and I'll be sure to follow. (Since I'm a new blogger if anyone is already doing this type of meme let me know as well and I'll link to them instead.)

First pick is The Anne Series by L.M. Montgomery.  I've read the first (and most popular) book Anne of Green Gables. Although it seemed to take longer than normal to read I really enjoyed the book and appreciated Anne's antics and watching her grow. In order to complete the series I would want to read the book again.

1. Anne of Green Gables
2. Anne of Avonlea
3. Anne of the Island
4. Anne of Windy Poplars
5. Anne's House of Dreams
6. Anne of Ingleside
7. Rainbow Valley
8. Rilla of Ingleside

Have you read any of the Anne books? When it comes to the "classics" do you treat them reverently and exclude them from reviews or do you publicly review the "classics" as well?

Book 1:  Breath of Angel, June 21, 2011
Book 2:  Eye of the Sword, March 13, 2012
Review:
Throat of the Night keeps up with the rest of the series. This was the BEST series I've ever read and I'm glad I found it now instead of when Breath of Angel was released (I don't think I would've made it waiting for 2 years to get to the end. Besides Melaia was told she had less than 2 years to restore the tree!) I couldn't put the books down I jumped from one to the next one as if they were one long book! All three books were packed with action th
at began on page one and ended at the very end of page 247! This is one of those series you will greatly regret not reading!

Review:
Eye of the Sword did not disappoint by any means. The romantic interest between Melaia and Trevin deepens and brings on a whole new set of issues to work through. The author certainly knows how to get her characters in situations that seem like there's no way out and rescue them. With 256 pages packed full of unexpected twists, turns, and adventures. Eye of the Sword gets my highest review!

The Angelaeon Circle Tour

The Angelaeon Circle Book One: Breath of Angel

ABOUT THE BOOK

Paperback and eBook, 256 pages

Young Adult Fantasy

Publisher: WaterBrook Press (Random House)

(June 21, 2011)

ISBN: 978-0307730121

Synopsis

“The stranger’s cloak fell back, and with it, a long, white blood-stained

wing.”

Melaia, a young priestess, witnesses the gruesome murder of an emaciated stranger in the temple courtyard. Just after she discovers wings on the stranger, the murderer enters the temple, and what Melaia has known only through song and story suddenly takes on flesh. Angels and shape-shifters were myths and stories . . . until now. Melaia finds herself in the middle of a blood feud between two immortal brothers who destroyed the stairway to heaven, stranding angels in the earthly realm. When the feud turns violent and Melaia becomes a target, she finds refuge with a band of wandering angels attempting to restore the stairway. But the restoration is impossible without the repayment of an ancient debt, the “breath of angel, blood of man,” a payment that involves Melaia’s heart, soul, and destiny.

Review

For a series, the first book had a solid ending. The goal of the first book is accomplished by the end of the book and does not leave the reader hanging off the cliff waiting for the next installment.  This is a great book that includes adventure, suspense, and a hint of romantic interest. I would recommend Breath of Angel to all readers.
